Rock the CASA
Kappa Alpha Theta just hosted their semiannual philanthropy event to support C.A.S.A, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. C.A.S.A is special to our Theta chapter because the money they raise is the main source of funding for the Athens-Clarke County division. C.A.S.A volunteers support over 270 children in the Athens foster care system by advocating for them in court proceedings to make sure they are placed in the best possible home. Each semester, Theta hosts a philanthropy event to help raise money.
In the past few years, the Theta's have hosted Boots & Barbecue, which is a meal on the lawn. This year, our philanthropy chairs decided to try something new, so they had a concert called “Rock the Casa.” Around 500 people came to the Theta lawn to watch The Lonely Biscuits, and the local Athens band, Wanderwild, play. Rock the Casa was a big hit, and they hope to host it again next fall!
All proceeds from the event went directly towards C.A.S.A., and with each $1,000 that they raise, one abused or neglected child will be spoken for in the court system. If you want to support C.A.S.A, please consider donating here to help Kappa Alpha Theta reach their goal and to make a direct impact on a child's life.
