Exec Spotlight: Caroline Beldon
Let's catch up with Caroline Beldon, The Panhellenic Council's Vice President of Recruitment Counselors! A junior from Marietta, Georgia, studying public relations, Caroline cannot wait to begin her senior year at the University of Georgia. Prior to the start of her final year in Athens, Caroline had quite the array of summer adventures!
In May, the Beldon family packed up and traveled to Europe, specifically Italy and Greece. Caroline loved both Rome and the Amalfi Coast in Italy and found Santorini, Greece to be breathtaking. "Ever since I was little my parents ingrained traveling in me, and now I have a huge desire to travel the world. I have been to twenty-two countries and I hope to continue to travel as I get older," she says. Clearly, her family trip was the highlight of Caroline's summer.
Once returning to the states, Caroline interned during June and July. As the intern at LBH PR & Co., a public relations firm in Saint Simons Island, Georgia, Caroline says she learned so much about the "real world" of public relations.
With only only a few days until Caroline returns to Athens for Panhellenic Recruitment, she can barely contain her excitement. Caroline exclaims, "I have been anxiously planning all summer and I am so pumped about taking what I have learned last year and sharing it with the new Gamma Chis! I feel like I have been waiting for this time forever now, and it is just around the corner!" When asked for a piece of advice for PNMs, Caroline says, "Do not let a sorority define your worth." She urges PNMs to focus on themselves during the whole processing, affirming, "If you get released from a house, it is okay. I promise it is not the end of the world. You are amazing and any sorority would be lucky to have you. So take that in, keep an open mind, and most of all, have fun! You will end up where you are supposed to be, whether you are in a sorority or not, trust me!"
After Bid Day on August 14 and she hangs up her red vest, where can you find Caroline? Mostly likely, the Intramural Fields. "I love to run, and running or just sitting at the trails near the lake is the perfect place to get away from the craziness for a little and just think," says Caroline.
Until then, recruitment is the number one thing on Caroline's mind. She cannot wait to welcome all the PNMs in only SEVEN short days!
