Inspire the Woman, Impact the World
Inspire the woman, impact the world. This saying is special to any Alpha Gam, collegiate members and an alumnae members, alike. On Saturday, April 8, Alpha Gamma Delta welcomed over sixty alums back through their Tiffany glass doors for International Reunion Day. IRD, which is held is each year in April, provides an opportunity for active Alpha Gams to mingle with the alumnae, while sharing brunch at the Alpha Gamma Delta house. During the event, active members are recognized for their academic, member development and philanthropic achievements and a guest speaker delivers some inspiring words. This year, the Gamma Alpha chapter was fortunate enough to welcome Wendy Bright Faust to speak during IRD. Wendy, the Executive Director for the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity, gave a personal account on impacting the world as a successful woman, all because Alpha Gam enabled her to do so.
Alpha Gam's Alumane Relations chair, sophomore Carly Smith, mentioned "One of my favorite parts about my position is getting to meet all the alumnae and hearing their stories. They remind me of the bond we share as sisters and how we will remain connected throughout our lives. This sorority is not just a college activity, but a sisterhood to which we can always come home." In fact, one group of alumnae used International Reunion Day as a way to reconnect with their sisters and honor one Alpha Gam who has gone before them.
From now on, Barbara Parr Drinkard's legacy will remained engrained at 530 S. Milledge. Lovingly referred to as "Parr," Barbara's life was honored as the women in her pledge class dedicated a bedroom in the house as "Parr's Room". Her husband even made the trip to celebrate this special event and it was a tremendous honor to celebrate Parr's beautiful life in this manner.
From sharing stories of sisterhood over brunch to honoring the life of a sister, Alpha Gamma Delta is proud to have hosted such a heartwarming event that bridges the gap between collegiate members and alumnae.
