Anchor Jam

This past week on March 20th, Delta Gamma hosted their annual spring philanthropy event, Anchor Jam. This event is a concert held at the Georgia Theater in Athens, and the proceeds from the tickets go to support Joining Forces, a branch of their philanthropy Service for Sight. Joining Forces aids visually impaired veterans and soldiers. Additionally, DG held a percentage night at Pauley’s afterwards to raise even more money for their philanthropy.

The concert was a huge success, as plenty of Delta Gamma’s and others came out to watch the Whispering Gypsies and the Lonely Biscuits. Both band were fun, artistic, and entertaining. The last time that the Lonely Biscuits played in Athens, they opened for Moon Taxi in a sold-out concert. The main force behind planning this event was Delta Gamma’s Vice President of Foundation, Cassidy Chakroun. She has been planning this event since the end of last semester and put in a lot of hard work and dedication into pulling the event off seemlessly. Cassidy, along with the help of her director, Katy Downs, able to pull off a spectacular event full of music, food, and good times. Delta Gamma was able to raise over $4,000 to donate to Joining Forces. Not only did this event provide a fun night for all who attended, but it allowed concert-goers to give back to those who have done so much for our country.
