Delta Phi's ANAD Week
This past week was ANAD week, and although this is a nationally recognized organization, it holds a special place in the hearts of the sisters of Delta Phi Epsilon. ANAD stands for Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, and it’s one of Delta Phi’s three philanthropies. This is a philanthropy that many college students, especially women, can relate to, and with the help of Emily Gronlund, Delta Phi Epsilon’s fearless ANAD coordinator, a successful week is in the books.
The week kicked off with No Makeup Monday, which is a day all about being comfortable in your own skin. The women of DPhiE tabeled outside of Tate and passed out handheld mirrors that read “DPhiE thinks you’re beautiful.” On Tuesday, the women could be seen handing out free hot chocolate and other refreshments outside of Tate in honor of "Trash Your Insecurities" Tuesday. On Wednesday night, Delta Phi held their first annual Lip Sync Battle in which sororities faced off, and there was a special performance from Spontaneous Boy Band. The event was both entertaining and hilarious, and Delta Gamma took home the first place prize. Thursday was a more solemn day as the culmination of the week happened in the form of a candlelight vigil held at the DPhiE house; this vigil served to honor those who have lost or are still fighting their battle with eating disorders.
ANAD is a non-profit and relies completely on the donations of others. Every 62 seconds, someone loses their battle, and ANAD and DPhiE both work to raise awareness to this fact.
