AOPi loves NPC

Beginning the weekend on February 3rd, all of the Alpha Omicron Pi chapters registered nationally met in Nashville, Tennessee to prepare and discuss upcoming positions and goals for 2017. AOPi's president, Christina Dinh, and AOPi's Panhellenic delegate, Hannah Taylor, acted as the representatives of the UGA Alpha Omicron Pi chapter during this conference. Carol Jones, pictured in the middle of Christina and Hannah, stepped into the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) chairman’s position for the next two years representing AOPi!

At the conference, many topics were covered including; how to improve our Panhellenic communities and how to have positive relationships within the community. Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on a promise to serve not only one another but the greater community as well, so while talking about ways to improve the Panhellenic community, another topic of discussion was ways to improve the community in general and as a whole.

AOPi is very excited to take on this journey of bettering the community and is even more excited for Carol Jones and her accomplishments. Being selected for her new position of Panhellenic conference chairman only happens every fifty-two years, so it is very exciting to welcome her into this new position. Hannah and Christina also visited the AOPi national headquarters while in Nashville. Hannah stated “it was pretty cool to see all the history of AOPi and the artifacts from our founders Stella, Bess, Jessie, and Helen.” Here, Hannah learned that the four founders of AOPi were women devoted to the pursuit of academic achievement and modeled a commitment to continued learning throughout their lives. Overall, the girls really enjoyed the conference and were able to learn a lot of new information and ways to apply the information in order to better not only Alpha Omicron Pi as a UGA chapter, but at a national level as well.
