Donut Worry, Breathe Happy
On October 25th, Delta Phi Epsilon hosted their first annual Donut Palooza on the lawn of their new house. The event was Delta Phi’s first major philanthropy event of the year and was benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which raises money and awareness for the disease that makes it very difficult to breathe. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of Delta Phi’s three philanthropies and was adopted by the organization after one of their own sisters, Phyllis Kosoff, came to them for help in raising money for her daughter who had Cystic Fibrosis. Delta Phi Epsilon is the number one private donator for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and has even had a drug for treating Cystic Fibrosis named after them! The University of Georgia chapter was not disappointed in their help to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
The slogan for Delta Phi’s Donut Palooza was, “Donut Worry Breathe Happy.” There were donuts galore, being featured on the banner, t-shirts, posters, and for sale to eat. Amongst the festivities were a donut eating contest, a dunk tank, and a table where everyone could decorate their own donut! “We had never seen any other organization do an event with donuts, and we wanted to do something fun to help us stand out. So why not donuts?” said Erica LaBadie, Delta Phi Epsilon’s Cystic Fibrosis Foundation coordinator. Hats off to the sisters of Delta Phi Epsilon who worked extremely hard to put together an event that turned out to be a huge success.
