Red and Black Athens to Atlanta
Most people only dream of stepping onto an NFL field at some point in their lives, not to mention working on one on a regular basis. For Delta Gamma Angela Hatchel, this dream became a reality with her recent hire this fall. As a VIP Game Day Hostess for the Atlanta Falcons, Angela works in the owner’s suite on game days, helping management and corporate hospitality. Logistically, Angela greets and escorts fans, assists with the owner’s VIP experience, and talks with the presidents and CEO’s of companies that are invited to the games to ensure they are as comfortable as possible. The senior said, “The best part of my job is definitely the atmosphere and just being surrounded by people who have the same love as I do in sports. I’ve always wanted to work in the NFL—it’s always been a dream of mine. I told my daddy how one day I would work in the NFL and now that my dreams are coming true, I know he’s definitely proud of me and looking down on me in heaven.” Last spring, Angela’s father passed away from pancreatic cancer. As a figure in her life who always pushed her to achieve her goals, this job offer was a milestone. Angela is a sport management major and is hoping to obtain a career with a team in the NFL or NCAA in the recruiting department in the future. Angela stated, “I know this internship will definitely prepare me for a career in sports and I couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity!”
