#SratLyfe
Finding your home in a sorority can happen in so many different and unexpected ways. For some girls, graduating high school and joining a sorority has always been the plan. For others, it takes some time to fall in love with the idea of Greek life. I let my chance at being in a sorority pass by during my first year at UGA. I had a normal freshman year making friends, Snellebrating, going to football games, and spending ungodly numbers of hours in the MLC. But on the day I moved out of my freshman dorm, as I was watching all my friends hug their sorority sisters tight, telling them they were counting down the days until recruitment practice started in the fall, I realized what I had been missing. I wanted that bond of sisterhood that meant I could call any one of my 200+ sisters in the middle of the night when I needed a shoulder to cry on. I wanted to walk around campus everyday and proudly show off my letters to the rest of the world. I wanted to spend the rest of my years at UGA making memories with the sisters my parents never gave me (thanks, mom). Joining a sorority is by far the best choice I’ve made during my time here at UGA. It opened doors I never knew were there. I’ve met my best friends, potential employers, and hundreds of amazing women from all walks of life who have enriched my life in ways I never thought possible. I have grown so much as a person because of the opportunities UGA Greek Life has given me, and for that reason alone I have nothing but positive things to say about joining a sorority. I know that going through recruitment is overwhelming and scary, and that sometimes it seems like the process is failing you. But I promise that if you trust it, you’re going to find your home at one of our 18 amazing sororities. And once you do, you won’t regret it! Sisterhood is not for the four (or five, lol) years you’re in college; it’s for life. Your sisterhood and the memories you’ll make with these girls will extend far past UGA. Go into this week of recruitment ready to meet new people and get excited in knowing that some of them might be your future best friends! #godawgsgogreek #PANHELLYEAH
