Dawgs for a Cause

Chi Omega is excited to announce their spring philanthropy! On March 30th, they will hold their annual Dawgs for a Cause event. Each year, Chi O chooses a local nonprofit to support. The girls raise money buy selling tickets to the event, which is held on the sorority’s own front lawn. Last year, Chi O supported Hope Flies, an organization benefitting research for mitochondrial medicine. Local families who are involved with Hope Flies came to the event, and the girls were able to see how mitochondrial disease affects these families and their children. Although not a well known or researched disease, this is now a cause that is near and dear to Chi Omega’s heart.

This year, Chi O is thrilled to be supporting Mercy Health Clinic and Athens PBJ. Many Chi Omegas with intended careers in healthcare are involved with volunteering at Mercy Health Clinic. The money raised from the event will go toward supporting the nonprofit health care center for Athens locals with no health insurance. In addition, they will be partnering with Athens PBJ to provide peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to those in need around downtown Athens. Chi Omega’s Dawgs for a Cause continues to serve as a contribution to local issues that hit close to home. Come out to Chi Omega’s front lawn on March 30th from 5-7 p.m. to help support these local nonprofits!
